Meet Platform Design & ZEDS Comic Communication

platform-&-ZED-sponsor

As we’ve said before without the generous sponsorship of our national and local sponsors, WordCamp Calgary wouldn’t happen. It is also why we are so excited to shine the spotlight on two more of our local sponsors Platform Design and ZEDS Comic Communication.

As sponsors of this year’s WordCamp, both companies are passionate supporters of not only the growing arts and creative industries in the city, but also the wonderful WordPress community. And to top it off, both companies provide unique and top-notch service for their local clients.

In you are unfamiliar, Platform Design is a local boutique print and graphic design firm with such clients as Village Ice Cream, Century Homes and Mountain Equipment Co-Op. While ZEDS Comic Communication offers writing services and communications punctuated with a bit of wit. Their impressive list of clients includes University of Calgary Department of Surgery, Mount Royal University and City of Calgary Corporate Services.

So if you’re looking for either print/graphic design services or looking to improve your communications with a bit of humour, check out Platform Design and ZEDS Comic Communication and give them some love.

Three Reasons To Pick-up A Ticket For WordCamp Today

Besides the obvious answers of great content, fantastic swag and amazing networking opportunities – here are three reasons why you should pick-up a ticket to WordCamp Calgary today.

  1. To make things easier for catering and badge printing the team will be forwarding on official numbers later today (Wednesday June 11th). By registering early it ensures we have your food order in and that you’re not one of those attendees with a hand written badge.
  2. Although we will take some registration at the door, we will still require you to purchase a ticket online [no cash tickets at the door]. So why not save yourself the headache by reserving a ticket before hand.
  3. Oh! And one last thing. There are also less than 25 tickets available WordCamp Calgary. So picking a ticket up before hand will guarantee a spot before we sell out.

Meet Our National Sponsors

I know we talk about this a lot, but the generosity of our sponsors is what makes WordCamp Calgary so amazing. So while we’re extremely proud of our great collection of local sponsors, we also wanted to shine the light on the National Sponsors that support WordCamps across Canada and the US.

So without further adieu, here are our six national sponsors for WordCamp Calgary:

  • Web hosting providers Bluehost, which have been a WordPress partners since 2005 and powers over one million WordPress sites.

So in addition to our great selection of local sponsors, make sure you take a look at our national sponsors for any web hosting, sticker, or multi-lingual needs.

Content Creators and Code Creators Tracks

As you may have noticed the content for WordCamp Calgary has been split into two unique tracks – Content Creators and Code Creators. One of our goals with this conference is to attract a wide spectrum of the WordPress community in the city. So by creating two tracks of content we are able provide some great information for people who use WordPress casually to power their blog or business web site to hard core developers and everything in between. So to help out with any questions about the two content tracks, here are some key points.

  • First and foremost, there are no restrictions for attending either track. People can attend Content sessions and Code Sessions, or you can just set-up shop in one of the tracks and enjoy a full day of great content.
  • The Content Creators sessions will be taking place in Macdonald Hall. The room holds about 100 attendees.
  • The Code Creators sessions will be taking place in a classroom within Heritage Hall. The room holds about 50 attendees comfortably. (Please note that we may cap attendance in this room if it starts to fill up for a session)
  • For the larger group sessions (Such as the Opening Remarks, Mentor Lunch and The “Everything WordPress: Ask an Expert, Be An Expert” panel) they will be held in Macdonald hall to accommodate everyone.

So hopefully that clears up any questions about the content tracks. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us at any time.
