We’re so excited to announce that speaker applications for WordCamp Calgary 2020 are open!
Become a WordCamp Calgary 2020 Speaker!
The 2020 edition of WordCamp Calgary will once again take place at Fort Calgary in downtown on May 29-30, 2020.
Last year, we made great progress towards diversifying our speaker roster and we want to continue to encourage and cultivate a diverse set of speakers that reflect our diverse community! Even if you’ve never spoken before, please apply, we’d love to see more of you become WordCamp Calgary speakers!
If you’re feeling unsure and identify as a member of an underrepresented group and want to learn more before applying, come to the Diverse Speaker Training session being held on February 12, 2020 through the Calgary WordPress Meetup Group! For more information, get in touch!
Important information to keep in mind
All WordPressers are welcome to apply: in the past our attendees have been a mixture of beginners learning about WordPress, business owners, freelancers, and some advanced developers. Consider this mixture of audience as you prepare your pitch for WordCamp Calgary 2020.
The team will be carefully considering all the talks submitted to make sure we have a well balanced schedule that appeals to the different types of attendees WordCamp Calgary draws.
Session Formats
WordCamp Calgary 2020 will feature sessions in 3 different formats:
- Regular talks: 40-45 minutes talks with 10-15 at the end for Q&A
- Lightning talks: 20 minutes each, with an optional 5 minute Q&A
- Workshops: 2 hour long hands-on workshops where attendees walk away having created or built something.
If you’re feeling tempted to apply but can’t quite decide on a topic, don’t worry – you can send multiple pitches for sessions (one pitch per submission, submit as many times as you like).
Overall, we’d recommend narrowing your pitches down to 3.
