{"id":636,"date":"2017-03-14T15:53:10","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T21:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2017.calgary.wordcamp.org\/?p=636"},"modified":"2017-03-14T15:53:10","modified_gmt":"2017-03-14T21:53:10","slug":"introducing-a-new-wapuu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calgary.wordcamp.org\/2017\/introducing-a-new-wapuu\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing a new Wapuu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2011, Kazuko Kaneuchi designed a cute little critter for WordPress Japan and <a href=\"https:\/\/ja.wordpress.org\/about-wp-ja\/wapuu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wapuu<\/a> is now the official mascot character of WordPress.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/jawordpressorg\/wapuu\" target=\"_blank\">distributed under the GPLv2 or later<\/a>\u00a0and can be modified by anyone to add regional flair or personality. This means that a new Wapuu design can be considered a \u2018forked version\u2019 of the original Wapuu as a symbol of the larger WordPress community. Since its introduction, it has taken the WordCamp scene by storm!<\/p>\n<p>We decided it was time Calgary had our own version of Wapuu.
